Coronavirus Statement

My practice is offering teletherapy sessions, for individuals, groups and couples temporarily during the coronavirus pandemic. Teletherapy will continue to be offered while social distancing remains important for community health, both locally and globally.

During the pandemic, teletherapy has been a useful way to meet the current mental health needs in the community and provide continuity of care.

Teletherapy means using computers (or smart phones) and secure, interactive videoconferencing platforms to provide psychological services.  I have long-standing teletherapy procedures in place (please see the separate section for more information about this medium).

For those who need some assistance in connecting with services, I am committed to a social justice model and offer some sliding scale fee appointments for those who want to discuss them.  If you need some assistance with insurance, I am in-network with Pacific Source which typically covers teletherapy.  If useful, I can help you with using out-of-network benefits for other insurance plans.  Many health insurance companies are being proactive and allowing telehealth services to be provided during the pandemic, even if your plan does not normally allow this.  Individual plans do vary so it’s useful to find out more about your individual plan.  If you need some guidance about how to use insurance benefits, please see my ‘appointments and insurance page’ and contact your insurance carrier for details about your specific plan.

While I assume many are already looking at news sources for information, here are some useful links below for both the CDC and regional Oregon authorities.

If you need more support during this time, I encourage you to reach out to mental health specialists as well as activating good connections in your life.
